Why You’ll Love This Recipe
There are SO MANY reasons why you’ll fall in love with this recipe.
First off, Oreo is right in the name. Who doesn’t love Oreos!?
Secondly, this is an individual recipe. Meaning you don’t have to have a dozen other servings sitting around. You are only making one serving, removing the temptation to having a overabundance of desserts in a day.
Lastly, this is a dessert but it also has protein! Think of it as an easy way to amp up your daily protein intake without even realizing it.

Protein Oreo Mug Cake Ingredients
Making this mug cake only uses ingredients that are likely already in your kitchen! I used Ascent Protein’s Cookies and Cream protein powder for this recipe. This is how I was able to get closer to the Oreo flavor without overdoing the maco’s!
- Egg
- Maple Syrup
- Vanilla Extract
- Milk
- Protein Powder (use the code LAURENK10 for a discount!)
- Baking Powder
- Flour
If you don’t want to use the same protein powder, use half a scoop of chocolate with half a scoop of vanilla to get you close to the flavor! Another option is to use vanilla protein powder and crumble in a few Oreo cookies, although this will alter the nutrition a bit!
How to Make the Oreo Mug Cake
This mug cake is pretty easy to make. It takes less than 5 minutes all together. The only downside is this recipe requires quite a few ingredients. That means you’ve got to grab everything out, make the cake, put everything away, then clean up.
I think this mug cake will make up for that, though. Trust me. I’ve made it three times myself since finalizing this recipe.
When to Make the Oreo Mug Cake
This mug cake is awesome to have at the end of the day as dessert. Enjoy it as a ‘healthier’ treat or as a way to get in that last bit of protein you need!
It can even warm you up as an after work snack! Imagine having a long day at work in the winter. You’ve got your car heater blasting, but never able to warm up. You walk into your house and make this warm and easy treat. It will warm you up and keep you satisfied until dinner!
No matter when you decide to make this Oreo Mug Cake you’re sure to love it!
Oreo Mug Cake Additions
This Protein Oreo Mug Cake is spongy and a great way to get in some additional protein in your diet. I have a few ideas for you to sweeten the deal a bit!
If you are trying to keep the calories low add a couple dollops of Redi Whip. If calories aren’t something you’re considering, a scoop of cold vanilla ice cream would pair perfectly with the warm Oreo Mug Cake.
Not looking to add cream? There’s still options for you to take this mug cake to the next level! Try crumbling Oreos on top (and throughout), some chocolate syrup, or maybe even from chocolate sprinkles!
