You are going to LOVE this recipe because it is easy to assemble yet makes an impact! If you are low on time you can still make these Halloween Spider Uncrustables and be on your way. Once you arrive everyone will be in awe of your creation!
Nobody needs to know how easy they actually were!
When to Make Halloween Spider Uncrustables
You may be assuming these Halloween Spider Uncrustables are only for halloween parties- WRONG! I mean, they are pretty perfect for a party dish, though!
These can make for a fun kid’s lunchbox item on Halloween! Imaging your child opens their lunchbox at school and see’s their normal Uncrustable has transformed into a spider! That’s an incredible lunch!
These can also be a greta activity for the kids to join in on! Have them place the candy eye’s on the sandwich where they want to make a funky spider. Or, have them poke the pretzels in. They will be excited and proud to eat their creation afterwards!

Ingredients You’ll Need to Make A Halloween Spider
This recipe is just as simple as it looks! You only need a few ingredients to make these spiders!
Chocolate Chips- Use any you have on hand. I used milk chocolate.
Small Pretzel Sticks- Be sure you get this specific shape!
Candy Eyes– You can also typically find these in the baking aisle of your local grocery.
Hazelnut Uncrustables– You can get a bulk amount off Amazon, but I found mine at Walmart!

How to Make Halloween Spider Uncrustables
These Halloween Spider Uncrustables are easier to make than you may expect!
Start with a thawed Uncrustable and remove it from its wrapper. Then, add your chocolate chips to a microwave-safe dish and warm in 15-second increments until smooth. Use a spoon to drizzle it on the sandwich.
While the chocolate is still wet, add the candy eyes to places where the chocolate was drizzled. This wet chocolate will act like the glue!
Now, this last part may be the trickiest- inserting the pretzels! Add them in on opposite sides at the same time (as seen on right picture above). This allows pressure to be put on opposite sides in order to insert the pretzels without tearing the bread. Repeat until you have six pretzel legs.
You can serve immediately! If you are making these ahead of time, place them in the freezer for 10 minutes. This allows the chocolate to harden and keeps the bread from softening too much and keeping the pretzel legs in proper place.
Uncrustables Nutrition
Surprisingly, all three varieties (PB & grape jelly, PB & strawberry jelly, and Hazelnut) of Uncrustables have the same amount of calories (210) and fat (9g).
Their other nutrition facts are VERY similar! There is between 160-220mg of sodium, 27-28g of carbohydrates, and 4-6g of protein.
So, no matter which flavor you choose you will be getting a similar in nutrition sandwich! That may mean you don’t need to fret about having the hazelnut flavor a bit more often!
Expert Tips and Tricks
I have made these a good amount of times (and not even at Halloween time- LOL!), so I do have some tips to share but that doesn’t mean you don’t discover an improvement! Be sure to share in the comments down below if you do!
If you chocolate is getting a bit clumpy as you microwave it there’s two options:
- Add a ½ teaspoon of coconut oil. This will potentially soften the chocolate and keep it smooth!
- If it has been overheated there is no return! The coconut oil won’t help. It would be best to toss your chocolate and try again.
Be sure to add a drizzle line where you think you’d like to place your eyes. Then, make sure you add the candy eyes while the chocolate is still wet. This wet chocolate hardens and acts like the glue to keep the eyes on the sandwich. Trust me- they STAY, too!

Frequently Asked Questions

Don’t spiders have eight legs?
Yes, spiders do have eight legs (and most have eight eyes as well!). I just use six legs in this recipe as to not overwhelm the Uncrustable!
This may be a good learning moment if you are making these with children!
Can I use a different flavor Uncrustable?
Yes! You can use any flavor or brand of Uncrustable! You could even make your own homemade ‘Uncrustables’.
A Word From A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist
Some may look at these Halloween Spider Uncrustables as a ‘sugar bomb’. But, really?
There’s under 300 calories which is a great snack size for many and there’s at least 4g of protein (depending on the flavor of Uncrustable you choose).
Having a fun food item to celebrate a holiday won’t make a massive difference in someone’s overall health. A larger health detriment may come by stressing about the nutrition of consuming this fun treat!
