If you love blueberries you’ll be obsessed with these muffins. They are absolutely jam-packed with blueberries! Each bite is sure to have a blueberry explosion.
Need more to love? This is a one-bowl recipe! That means all the ingredients can be mixed in a single bowl. This means it is kid-friendly and parent-friendly with minimal clean-up.
Key Ingredients
Most of the ingredients for these muffins are pantry staples but there are a few you’ll be sure you have before starting!
Quick Oats– Be sure to use quick oats, not old-fashioned oats. Old-fashioned oats are thicker so in this recipe they won’t be as broken down as you’d like them to be!
Fresh Blueberries– This gives the muffins that fresh *pop*. This recipe is majorly loaded with blueberries. You can always cut down on them if you’re not the biggest fan!
Ripe Banana– You’ll need 1/2 cup of mashed banana in total, which is about one medium to large banana.
In addition to these recipe must-haves, you’ll also need baking powder, veggie oil, sugar, all-purpose flour, vanilla extract, an egg, cinnamon, and salt.
How to Make Oatmeal Blueberry Banana Muffins
This recipe is not only kid-approved because of their tastes but also because of their ease of making! You only need one large bowl to mix everything into!
To start making your Oatmeal Blueberry Banana Muffins, wash your hands, preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, and gather all of your ingredients.
Next up, add the wet ingredients to your bowl: mashed banana, veggie oil, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix this up!
Now, add the dry ingredients to the same bowl: sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, oats, flour, and salt.
Lastly, carefully disperse the blueberries. Doing this last helps prevent them from being broken from all the mixing!
Add this mixture into a non-stick muffin tin. They should be about 3/4 of the way full. Then, pop them into the oven for about 25-27 minutes! When they’re done allow them to cool before chowing down.
Reminder: This recipe yields 9 muffins.
Expert Tips and Tricks on Oatmeal Blueberry Banana Muffins
During the testing of this recipe (SO. MANY. TESTS!) I’ve gathered a few tips and tricks for you all.
- Use a silicone muffin tin for easy muffin removal! They will pop right out and you don’t need to worry about them breaking in half.
- If you want the look of a super-blueberry muffin reserve some blueberries and add them to the top of your muffin mixture right before popping them in the oven.
- Make a large batch and freeze them. Then, next time you have a hankering for an Oatmeal Blueberry Banana Muffin you can snag one out and warm it up. It may be a bit softer than if from freshly baked, but just as delicious!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)
Do I need to use fresh blueberries?
Technically, you can use frozen and thawed blueberries. You won’t get that pop as you would from fresh blueberries but you will still get a delicious batch of muffins!
How many bananas do I really need?
In total, you need 1/2 cup of mashed banana. Because of the great variance in size of bananas, it is hard to say exactly how many you’ll need. One medium to large banana is usually enough. If you only have smaller bananas, use two.
You can always mash the banana and then measure out how much you need and snack on the extra!
How can I make more than 9?
This recipe yields 9 muffins. Due to there being an egg in this recipe, it is difficult to alter the recipe size more than joust doubling it.
If you wanted 13 muffins you’d somehow need 1.5 eggs. That’s pretty hard to do! Because of this, I recommend sticking to single, double, or triple (etc) batches.
A Word From A Registered Dietitian
Did you know it is recommended to get 5 servings of fruits and veggies a day? For some, this may seem easy but for others, it can be a feat.
Any way to get those fruits and veggies in the works! This could look like having a bit of Ranch to have some carrots or packing a muffin with blueberries and a banana! Sure, having the fruit in its plain form is more calorie-efficient, but this is a delicious option if you weren’t to have any otherwise!
