What Is A Turnover?
If you’re like me turnovers aren’t a normal dessert. I probably have 1 or 2 a year. I was pretty curious as to their history so I thought I would share with you what I learned about them!
Some pages say that apple turnovers originated in 1630 or in 1753 while some generalize its beginnings as from ‘ancient times’. No matter when they actually began, turnovers have been around for a while.
Turnovers are considered ‘handheld pies’. This is definitely a description I can get behind. A handheld pie?-PERFECT!
They come is SO MANY flavor varieties:

- Chicken
- Beef
- Sweet potato
- Cheese
- Pork

Also, of course there is a National Apple Turnover day. There’s a national day for everything now, huh? July 5th is National Apple Turnover Day and August 28th is National Cherry Turnover Day.
