This treat is made with two simple ingredients: bananas and milk. Create your own Frozen Banana Dessert by picking your own favorite add-in’s and fun toppings flavor combinations!
Banana Dessert Nessesities
One of the main things you will need is a high powered blender. A Vitamix is one of the strongest blenders you can buy but they are a bit pricy. If you have enough will you can make any blender work by adding additional milk.
Something else you’ll find yourself looking through your kitchen for is an ice cream scoop! A metal or metal like material is the best way to go when selecting an ice cream scoop. It will be strong enough to scoop through a hard pint of ice cream AND won’t melt it on the touch!
Additional Flavoring
The base of this dessert is banana and tastes great as if but you can add additional flavorings into your blender! Some recommendations I have are:
- Peanut butter or peanut butter powder
- Cocoa powder
- Maple syrup
- Frozen berries
Top Off The Banana Dessert
A great dessert can only be made better with fun toppings. I used runny peanut butter and walnuts on one of mine and chocolate syrup with maraschino cherries on the other. The best part is that the banana dessert is so cold that when you add a liquid topping it will harden!
This Isn’t Ice Cream
Your typical ice cream will mainly consist of cream, sugar, milk, and gums. There’s nothing wrong with this! Ice cream is delicious and nothing can replace a good bowl of chocolate chip cookie dough (yum!). This may seem like a healthy ice cream alternative but in actuality it is something different completely. I mean the ingredients barely overlap. The main ingredient is just a plain old banana with a splash of milk.
Banana’s are a great source of carbs. This can be triggering for some because for some reason carbs gained a horrible reputation for the being the macronutrient that causes weight gain. Trust me, carbs are your friend. If you need some more background on carbs you can find my post about the benefits of carbs here.
Both are great cold treats but neither can replace each other!
Frozen Banana Dessert
Ingredients
- 2-3 Banana ripe
- 3-5 Tablespoons Milk
Instructions
- Remove the peels then break your bananas up into smaller pieces and allow to harden in the freezer for at least 3 hours.
- Once hard, add your banana pieces into a high-powered blender. Blend for a minute then add milk. This amount will vary depending on the size and amount of bananas you chose. You will want to add as little amount of milk as possible.
- Once desired texture is reached scoop into your bowl. It is best if you allow it to chill in the freezer an additional 5 minutes, or you can dig right in!
