Expert Tips and Tricks
Here are a few tips and tricks I’ve picked up along the way of testing this recipe:
- Blend the liquid and frozen fruit together first to make it easier on your blender.
- Allow the liquid to reach the blade. This allows for easier blending.
- Know that banana is a strong flavor. If you don’t love it, add a very minimal amount.
- Don’t overfill your blender!
- Understand that if you want a thinner smoothie add more liquid and if you want a thicker smoothie add additional frozen fruit or ice.
- Place your glass in the freezer while you make your smoothie. Adding the drink to a cold glass ensure it stays colder longer.
Once you’ve made this smoothie a couple times you’ll be an expert, too! Leave your tips and tricks in the comments down below so we can all improve!
Substitutions and Additions
Not every recipe is perfect for what you want. Use these substitutions and additions to tailor this recipe to your preferences.
- If you need a bit more creamy texture try adding a dollop of Greek yogurt.
- Want additional protein? Add a scoop or two of protein powder.
- If you don’t like one of the three fruits replace it with the same amount of another fruit- I’d recommend strawberries!
- Once you’re ready to experiment with the flavor profile try using a different liquid than the pineapple juice. Maybe orange juice, water, or kefir.
- Add in some coconut flakes!
