Why You’ll LOVE This Recipe
If you love both cookie butter and puppy chow, you will soon be addicted to this Cookie Butter Puppy Chow! It takes what you love about cookie butter- the smooth luscious flavor with what you love about puppy chow- a crunchy, chocolatey mess to make your new favorite dessert.
Plus, who doesn’t love a no-bake recipe!?
Ingredients
There are only a few ingredients you need to make Cookie Butter Puppy Chow! The main ingredients are:
Chex– Use rice or corn to get the most Cookie Butter flavor to come through. If you love chocolate or peanut butter you can use those, too! The flavor will just compete with the cookie butter.
White Chocolate– I use white chocolate chips but you can use your favorite white chocolate!
Cookie Butter– This is NOT something you’ll want to skimp on!
Biscoff Cookies– These add additional cookie crunch!
Powdered Sugar– Any basic powdered sugar will do.
Butter– I used unsalted to ensure it is not too salty as all butters salt level can vary. You can risk it and use salted butter. Who knows, it may be even better!

How to Make Cookie Butter Puppy Chow
To start, grab out all of your ingredients!
Add your Chex to a large bowl and add your Biscoff cookies to a closed bag and crush until you have small pieces but not crumbs. Set both aside.
Then, grab a sauce pan and heat the butter, chocolate chips, and cookie butter over low-medium heat. Continuously stir this to avoid clumping and even distrubition.
Once liquid and evenly combined, pour this mixture over the Chex. Then, carefully combine. While mixing, add in the Biscoff cookie bits and powdered sugar.
Allow to cool then enjoy!
Expert Tips and Tricks
Once you make this recipe a couple times you’ll be an expert, too! Here are some things I’ve learned after my trials so you don’t need to do the same!
- When melting the butter and cookie butter be sure to use low heat. Heating it at too high of a temperature will not end well!
- You can also microwave this mixture in 30-second increments, stirring gin between, if desired.
- Try using a large ziplock bag or brown paper bag to mix everything together.
- Be sure to allow the mix to cool prior to storing!
- If you are adding melt-able additions (such as additional chocolate bits) be sure you wait until the mixture is cool first!

Additions and Substitutions
No recipe is ever exactly what you want. Here are some additions and substitutions you may want to try:
- If you want more bits in the mixture try adding butterscotch mini chips.
- Toffee bits can add an even bigger crunch!
- Try adding cinnamon to the powdered sugar. This is extra, easy flavor.
- If cookie butter is a bit overwhelming try doing one part cookie butter and one part peanut butter.
If you do try any of these and love it, be sure to let me know in the comments down below!
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)
If your question hasn’t been answered so far, you may find it here! If not, leave it in the comments down below and I will get you an answer!
How much puppy chow do I need to make?
Knowing how much puppy chow to make is difficult! If it is not the main dessert, consider making ½-1 cup per person.
Then again, I’m sure nobody would be mad if there was extra!
How do I make this puppy chow gluten free?
Unfortunately, classic cookie butter and Biscoff cookies are NOT gluten-free. I have not attempted to make this recipe gluten-free but you can try using this gluten-free ChocZero Speculoos Spread.
Can you freeze puppy chow?
Yes, you can freeze puppy chow! Be sure to allow it to cool before putting in an airtight container then freezing. But, when thawing from the freezer, it may not be as crisp as originally!

A Word From a Registered Dietitian
Puppy chow tends to be an item many people struggle with consuming in moderation- I get it!
To promote eating in moderation try adding a portion to a small bowl and putting away the stash. This way, you have what you need and don’t need to go clean up and be tempted with more!
On the other hand, it is completely normal to have a bit more than a ‘moderate’ amount here and there! Try not to be too hard on yourself if you have more than planed.
